Begin with suitability, not a target return
State why you are learning and what you are not willing to risk. Protect essential expenses, emergency savings and debt payments. If losing the entire learning budget would create hardship, there is no suitable live budget at present.
Check whether the product is lawful and appropriate in your jurisdiction, and whether you understand its terms. Do not substitute a provider's availability for legal permission. Your plan can conclude with education only; it does not need a deposit date.
Make the rules observable
Write the allowed instruments, observation timeframe, setup, invalidation condition, entry timing and exit or expiry. Include a quote-source rule. Another person should be able to tell whether your written conditions were met without guessing what you meant.
Then set position sizing, total exposure, session duration and loss limits. Include fees and changing payouts in your evaluation. Name the no-trade conditions: unclear quotes, stale signals, fatigue, a broken tool, unverified rules or a reached limit.
Choose a review process
Keep the original plan and date any revisions. Review on a schedule, separating financial outcomes from whether you followed the process. A handful of wins is not a reason to relax risk limits, and a loss is not automatically a reason to rewrite everything.
If you test several alternatives, record the rejected ones too. Selecting the best historical result from many trials can create an illusion of skill. Treat any revised method as an unproven hypothesis and evaluate it on new observations.
Write the exit before the entry
List how you will stop a session, disable an integration and revoke access. Know how to contact the provider and where to find withdrawal and complaint procedures. Keep records of transactions and terms; do not assume a chat history will remain available.
End the plan with permission not to trade. Understanding uncertainty is progress, even if it leads away from a product. A tool can assist a process, but it cannot decide your financial priorities, guarantee a result or take responsibility for your losses.
Try this on paper
Write a single page with these headings: purpose, money I cannot risk, permitted products, observable setup, size and exposure, no-trade conditions, stop procedure and review date. Leave unresolved fields visibly blank. Do not move to live trading just to complete the page.
